- Abstract: After the evaluation of the terminological status of the notions of collocation and appropriate usage, we review the work relating to collocations to determine their precise status as “linguistic units”. Based on the phraseological character of collocations and their corollaries we propose the status of hybrid lexemes, a concept that corresponds to their linguistic characteristics.
