- Abstract: In the Soulier de satin, plastic arts are omnipresent, and involve more than mere elements of local colour. Claudel organizes the appearance of works on the stage according to various modes ranging from the simple reading of stage directions to the performance and including the painting effect, or ekphrasis. Claudel plays on performance to intertwine the text and plastic arts and thus makes his work an ex-voto.
