L’erreur et l’étonnement chez Montaigne et Spinoza

• Abstract: We thematize, at first, the problem of knowledge in Montaigne’s Essays. Secondly, we consider some passages where Montaigne refers to the error and the astonishment. Then we analyze the spinoziens texts about the error and astonishment that give rise to a comparison between the two authors. In conclusion, invoking two great philosophical doctrines on the nature of the error, we show the similarities and differences between the respective positions of Montaigne and Spinoza.
