Abstract: This development compares the uses of error/truth with theses of lie/sincerity in the literature of the xvi^e century. Based on the Erasme’s Adages and the Montaigne’s Essays, this lexicological study tries to determinate the links between error and lie, between a gnoseological approach and an ethical one. We aim to demonstrate that error, in the language, is envisaged in ethical terms.
