- Abstract: It is useful to establish a dialogue between “error” and another word which can prove to be of great usefulness: that is curiosity. For the authors of the 16th century, many notions and emotions graft themselves on that word. We are naturally curious, the Bible says so. What are the good and bad deeds generated by curiosity? The word can be found several times in the Essays and often provokes a reflection on the word “error”, notably in the religious domain.
