Abstract: Why did novelist Tanguy Viel, whose work is usually influenced by the detective story, choose to rewrite the life of Christ in the novel Cet homme-là…? The text calls for a parallel reading of the narrative and the epigraphic reproductions of Giotto’s frescoes. It leads the reader to question resurrection, its failure and the very significance of writing in our contemporary era.
