- Abstract: The presentation of the resurrections, written in 1908 and published as a preface to Contre Sainte-Beuve, constitutes the pivot between the novel begun at the beginning of the year and the critical part to follow. Situated between lived experience and novelistic writing, it also interrogates the connection between Proust’s philosophy and his artistic aims. The resurrections translate a manifestation of the era’s vision of the unconscious, an unconscious which can be accessed thanks to the memory of the body.
