- Abstract: As a reader of Maxime du Camp, Flaubert practices biographical criticism in order to condemn all the more effectively a work which, by facilitating this approach, attests its treason against the dogma of impersonality. Persuaded that he has shown the confusion between the social self and the creator self in the work of Du Camp, Flaubert breaks with his work in order to promote literary modernity all more effectively. Flaubertian reflection incarnates an ideological totalitarianism that the man of Croisset will claim at the risk of provoking the abortion of the famous school of Rouen.
