• Abstract: In relation to memory, forgetting has a negative sense. However, its role is ambivalent, and predominantly positive when ­connected to the ­construction of memory, creative power, and certain cathartic and therapeutic effects. Only death is synonymous with ­complete memory loss. To live is to forget because forgetting is in essence a question of time.
