- Abstract: This article compares Le Vent à Djémila by Camus with La Leçon de la Sainte Victoire by Peter Handke. The function of silence appears fundamental to both authors: it is at the root of what they learn from their experience of a sort of ‘journey of initiation’ which culminates in temporal suspension and existential plenitude.
