• Abstract: Le Livre de la neige (1990) by the Belgian poet François Jacqmin (1929-1992) deals with notions of emptiness, silence, and immensity. This article analyses the intersection between three axes: the poetics of Jacqmin, the larger context of Francophone poetry of the second half of the twentieth century, and the particular context of Belgian Francophone literary practice.
